Calipso
The close-up view of each stone type shows a relatively true image of the crystalline structure and the colouring. This is suitable for grained slabs to a limited extend only. In regard to the colour matching, please take an original sample of the stone from your furniture store as a basis.
Petrography
The rock consists mainly of transparent quartz grains grown together. Strewn in between fine mica flakes (muscovite mica), cause the subdued glittering effect. Small quantities of the ferritic oxide limonite and hematite deposits bring the colour into effect.
Petrogenesis
The predecessor of quartzite was sand stone, which was mostly deposited in very thick layers at the bottom of the sea. The significantly denser and also chemically stable, quartzite, possible to polish, was generated under high pressure and temperature during the orogenesis.
