Striato
The close-up view of each stone type shows a relatively true image of the crystalline structure and the colouring. This is suitable for grained slabs to a limited extend only. In regard to the colour matching, please take an original sample of the stone from your furniture store as a basis.
Petrography
This is genuine marble because it is crystalline marble. The calcite crystals measure between 1 and 3 mm. The only decoration is grey stripes, orientated almost in parallel.
Petrogenesis
This is a fully crystalline ("Genuine?) marble in contrast to not crystalline limestone (wrongly called "marble? in trade, if it can be polished). Rocks of this type were generated, when limestone crystallised under high pressures and temperatures. This occurred e.g. during up-folding of mountain ranges. Marble can often be purely white in contrast to limestone. The grey stripes are probably caused by very fine dispersed graphite. This also crystalline carbon is evidence of previous life forms.
