Andromeda White

The close-up view of each stone type shows a relatively true image of the crystalline structure and the colouring. This is suitable for grained slabs to a limited extend only. In regard to the colour matching, please take an original sample of the stone from your furniture store as a basis.

The Andromeda White belongs to the granulites, which form a distinct group within the metamorphic rocks. Granulites are light, almost mica-free garnet gneisses from the lower earth‘s crust. They show a fine to medium grain structure with slight striae.
The off-white, ivory-colored or greenish basic color is only interrupted by up to 1cm-sized dark red garnet crystals and, less frequently, by fine black biotite striae.

Granulites contain garnet crystals which indicate a high-grade metamorphic overprint. In the core area of the lower earth crust/ the earth mantle at a depth of 20 – 30 km, silicatic paragneiss and mica schist recrystallized in the course of millions of years during the Archeozoic by means of a pressure of 5 to 10 kilobars and a temperature of 1000° to 1200° centigrades.
