The close-up view of each stone type shows a relatively true image of the crystalline structure and the colouring. This is suitable for grained slabs to a limited extend only. In regard to the colour matching, please take an original sample of the stone from your furniture store as a basis.
The rock consists mainly of a fine crystalline mixture of quartz and biotite mica. The laminate mica crystals are settled, the layers lightly folded by tectonic forces. Some of the white “veins” consist of dolomite, others from quartz.
The origin of this kind of rocks is clayey sandy sea deposits. These were converted into mica-containing quartzite in the greater depths of the earth crust under high pressure and temperature after having been compacted to clayey sand stone.
