Quarzit Colorado

The close-up view of each stone type shows a relatively true image of the crystalline structure and the colouring. This is suitable for grained slabs to a limited extend only. In regard to the colour matching, please take an original sample of the stone from your furniture store as a basis.

Petrography

The rock consists predominantly of quarzt.

Petrogenesis

This attractive and vividly textured rock was originally formed from sandy deposits that solidified into sandstone in ancient times. A later collision between earth's crustal plates  led to the folding of a mountain range. The high pressures and temperatures caused maximum compaction of the formerly porous sandstone. The previously rather regular  layer structure was deformed and broken, resulting in today's extremely lively appearance. The former fractures healed through the precipitation of quartz from hot solutions.
