Giallo Atlantide leathered
The close-up view of each stone type shows a relatively true image of the crystalline structure and the colouring. This is suitable for grained slabs to a limited extend only. In regard to the colour matching, please take an original sample of the stone from your furniture store as a basis.
This is a quietly colour-ornamented lime spar, which has as the only décor elements fine, ochre to brown coloured, jagged lines (stylolite). Only on close inspection are the bright circles, ovals or disks in sizes of up to 8mm visibly recognisable. These fossils, called cumulate, belong to the group of large foraminifer and were the largest single-celled organisms having ever lived on the earth.
Limestone is mostly generated on the seabed by precipitation of in water dissolved lime. Almost always, animals (e.g. corals, mussels, snails, sea lilies) or also plant organisms (e.g. lime discharging algae) are involved in building up lime layers. Even if it is not evident at first glance - limestone consists mainly of residues of fossil fauna and flora.
