Golden Raddix

The close-up view of each stone type shows a relatively true image of the crystalline structure and the colouring. This is suitable for grained slabs to a limited extend only. In regard to the colour matching, please take an original sample of the stone from your furniture store as a basis.

Petrography

Since the antiquity, the famous pure white marbles have been excavated on the Isle
of Thassos. The present variety mainly consists of the mineral dolomite and is relatively coarsely crystalline. The decorative element is given by the decent brown veining which is a result of the enclosure of finely ramified (dendritic) iron ore (limonite) and reminds of a finely ramiform network of roots.

Petrogenesis

During the Mesozoic in the Jurassic and Cretaceous period, mighty layers of dolmite stone were deposited on the sea ground. Millions of years later, during the Tertiary, the mountains folded up. The high pressures and temperatures created thereby gave birth to a metamorphosis in the course of which the sedimentary dolomite stone changed into crystalline dolomite marble.
