Die Nahaufnahme der jeweiligen Steinsorte gibt ein relativ getreues Abbild der Kristallstruktur und der Farbstellung (bei Bildplatten nur eingeschränkt) wieder. Bei genauen Farbabstimmungen bitte immer ein Originalmuster des Einrichtungshauses zu Grunde legen.
Petrography
As the name suggests, quartzites consist mainly of the mineral quartz. In contrast to sandstones with rounded grains, the quartz grains here are almost completely interlocked; the structure is therefore almost pore-free and the rock is therefore easyto polish. The mineral quartz is also harder than steel and acid-resistant.
Petrogenesis
Sandstone is formed when sand deposits, for example on the sea floor, solidify over time with the addition of a binding agent. If these deposits are later subjected to high pressures and temperatures during mountain formation, quartzite is formed. In this commercial variety, the layering of the former deposits is still visible.
