Quarzit Silver

The close-up view of each stone type shows a relatively true image of the crystalline structure and the colouring. This is suitable for grained slabs to a limited extend only. In regard to the colour matching, please take an original sample of the stone from your furniture store as a basis.

Petrography

The main component is very fine-grained, transparent quartz together with some feldspar. Small, metallic golden grains of pyrite ("Fool's Gold?) are visible on the polished surface. A light orientation in one direction is recognisable on larger surfaces.

Petrogenesis

Quartzite was generated when sandy deposits (Sandstone) came under the influence of high pressures and temperatures in the lower areas of the earth's crust or during up-folding of mountain ranges. The initially porous sandstone was highly compacted during transformation into quartzite. Quartzite has therefore also very good strength values apart from excellent chemical resistivity!
