Shivagashi

The close-up view of each stone type shows a relatively true image of the crystalline structure and the colouring. This is suitable for grained slabs to a limited extend only. In regard to the colour matching, please take an original sample of the stone from your furniture store as a basis.

Petrography

Very light structure of pale yellowish feldspar and transparent quartz, strongly directional, although only very few and very small black flakes of biotite are included. However, irregular, frequently fading, cloudy, colourful bands appear, interspersed with grey quartz, dark-red garnet together with red haematite and brown limonite stripes.

Petrogenesis

Shivakashi belongs to the metamorphous stone group of migmatite, a mixture of orthogneiss and paragneiss. Magma granite, as well as low-quartz sediment rock, is the original rock, which has been changed by faults in the earth crust under pressure and heat into a new rock. It is characterised by a typical division into light and dark zones, a texture, which otherwise only occurs in marble.
