Wave Green

The close-up view of each stone type shows a relatively true image of the crystalline structure and the colouring. This is suitable for grained slabs to a limited extend only. In regard to the colour matching, please take an original sample of the stone from your furniture store as a basis.

Petrography

This is a very fine crystal rock with grain sizes in the range of 1/10mm, mainly consisting of calcite (= lime spar). This virtually pure white mineral is penetrated by equally fine crystalline green silicates (chlorite, fuchsite, serpentine) of different concentrations which results in changing green shades. The dark lines are caused by imbedded graphite.

Petrogenesis

Marble belongs to the metamorphous rocks, i.e. they have been generated from limestone deposits in the earth crust under the influence of high pressures and temperatures. The colour defining green silicates were generated from clay or volcanic ash originally mixed with the limestone. The metamorphosis occurred together with folding up of a mountain range. The wavy structure reflects the folding of such mountain ranges on a small scale.
