Verde Antigua

The close-up view of each stone type shows a relatively true image of the crystalline structure and the colouring. This is suitable for grained slabs to a limited extend only. In regard to the colour matching, please take an original sample of the stone from your furniture store as a basis.

Petrography

The discreet lime green marbled limestone shows several decorative elements.Firstly, a wide net of darker, reddish-brown stylolite stands out which criss-crosses the rock. White, crystalline calcite veins are regularly imbedded. Just like the fine hair-like, also calcite glass veins they are natural fillings of cracks and fissures, whichopened up millions of years ago by tectonic tensions in the earth crust. However, today they are not weakening the rock. Lime spar is sensitive to acid and not scratch resistant!

Petrogenesis

Limestone is sedimentary rock. This material was generated from lime deposits on the seabed. Already starting crystallising can be seen under a microscope; the transition to marble.
